DC Comics characters have nothing to do with Snowmass Village, unless it's a symbol of how fast we can part you from your hard-earned dollars. It is a cool sculpture, but it would be more profound if we placed the original Snowmass Village logo in the roundabout. You know, the upside-down saint Bernard that morphed into a flower that was our logo until the marketing department changed it. Several times. The one thing I've always heard about logos is to never change them. That flower/dog was the symbol of Snowmass Village for several decades. Its nostalgic properties alone would remind us of our short history as a town. metal sculpture artistsOur longtime return guests would appreciate the acknowledgement of our roots as a great real estate scam that was in need of a logo way back in the 1960s, and the fact that we've gone to the dogs in recent years. For the record, Snowmass Village should change its logo back to the flower/dog. The new logo(s) haven't been around long enough to be ingrained in people's minds. The old one was, and is, the Snowmass Village icon that everyone recognizes.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) is developing a supply chain to back Abe's initiative, which will be showcased when Tokyo hosts the 2020 Olympic games. KHI has been looking at using brown coal from the Australian state of Victoria, where supplies are plentiful. However, it is hedging its bets with a project in Norway to derive hydrogen using power from hydroelectric dams and eventually wind farms. Using Australian coal requires removing its climate-changing carbon and burying it in old oil or gas wells there. In Norway, KHI has teamed up with Nel Hydrogen, a maker of hydrogen plants, with backers including Japan's Mitsubishi Corp and Norway's Statoil. The project aims to demonstrate that liquefied hydrogen (LH2) can be produced using renewables and delivered to Japan on tankers. Nel Hydrogen's market development vice-president Bjorn Simonsen told Reuters the company aims to deliver liquefied hydrogen to Japan for a minimum 24 yen per normal cubic meter (Nm3). A study on the scheme is due to be completed in 2019. KHI estimates that hydrogen from Australia costs about 29.8 yen/nm3 and the company plans to establish a global LH2 supply chain like that for liquefied natural gas, KHI's spokesman Keisuke Murakami told Reuters by email. "If Norway commercial (production) goes rapidly it might be earlier than Australian commercial," he said.

That is not only mysterious but shameful." MOST READ ENTERTAINMENT NEWS THIS HOUR Seaman knows why, writing that for too long, "women artists were suspect and disreputable, unwelcome aliens who managed to slip into the gated male art world. For millennia, women were visible as the subjects, not the creators, of art. It is still difficult for woman artists to sustain critical attention and support." Her inspiration for this book was her mom, the painter Elayne Seaman, who allowed Donna "to witness firsthand what it meant for an artist to perform the daily balancing act between caring for one's family and home and the demands of art. I understood early on that the need to create is deep, inexplicable and persistent, and that it can be a source of pleasure and angst." Seaman's magnificent seven are compelling and fascinating characters. They are distinct but all share such characteristics as determination, curiosity and, to coin a phrase, a lust for life. There are some examples of their work in the book (my favorites are Abercrombie's stark and spooky paintings) and, of course, hundreds more on the internet. Seaman, who is originally from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., once wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps, studying for a time at Kansas City Art Institute.
